Our mission is to foster an understanding and appreciation of Mitchell County’s biological and cultural history, ensuring that future generations can enjoy its unique beauty and maintain sustainable habitats. The Foundation also plays a key role in developing educational displays at the Milton R. Owen Nature Center.

Each year, the Mitchell County Environmental Education Foundation provides over 370 educational programs for more than 8,000 youth, families, and visitors. Our diverse offerings cover topics such as local wildlife, outdoor skills (hunting, fishing, archery), ecology, geology, and recycling.
