Our Mission

Each year, the  Mitchell County Environmental Education Foundation supports over 370 environmental education opportunities to over 8,000 youth, families, residents, and visitors to Mitchell County! These programs cover a wide range of topics including local wildlife and plants, outdoor recreational skills such as hunting & fishing, archery, ecology, geology, recycling, human & land relationships, and many more.

The goal of these programs, and the Foundation, is to promote the understand and care of the biological and cultural history of Mitchell County, and ensure that future generations can enjoy its unique beauty in healthy, sustainable habitats. The Environmental Education Foundation also has a leading role in the development and creation of educational displays in the Milton R. Owen Nature Center.

In order for these programs to continue, we need your support!
